The parts tell the story of Operation Pegasus. The walk challenges you to reflect on themes such as courage\, resistance\, peace and freedom. \nThe start and finish is at the Museumplein in Ede. There you can also enjoy a snack and drink\, live music\, exhibitions and more afterwards.

DESCRIPTION:This year Operation Market Garden took place 81 years ago. During this operation\, tens of thousands of allies jumped from various aircraft above the Ginkelse Heide between Ede and Arnhem. This operation is annually commemorated with a large commemoration and parachute drop. These para drops are part of the annual military exercise “Falcon Leap”. Soldiers from countries such as the Netherlands\, The United States and England will jump for a big audience on the final day of their exercise. DESCRIPTION:2025 is a special commemorative year\, because we reflect on 80 years of freedom. Gelderland is the host province during this special year and Wageningen\, City of Liberation\, is the host city for the Start National Celebration of the Liberation on 5 May. The 5 May lecture\, which takes place in a different province every year\, will be added to the programme that is organised annually at this historic location. This means that the National Commemoration Capitulation 1945\, the 5 May lecture and the Freedom Parade together form one programme. After the commemoration\, a parade with (former) soldiers and vehicles\, accompanied by music by other Pegasus Pipes & Drums\, will pass through the city. \nFollowing the parade\, Prime Minister Dick Schoof will light the Liberation Fire on the main stage of Liberation Festival Gelderland. This officially opens the 14 Liberation Festivals throughout the country.

DESCRIPTION:The Oranjedag Heelsum Association organizes the annual Airborne Remembrance at the Airborne Monument at the intersection of Bennekomseweg and Utrechtseweg in Heelsum. This commemoration is preceded by a service in the Chapel on the Hill. The sounds of the bagpipe will be heard there\, and this service starts at 6:00 PM and is conducted by the Interchurch Working Group Renkum/Heelsum (IKW). After the service\, there will be a silent march towards the Monument where the program for the Airborne Remembrance will start at 7:00 PM. Pegasus Pipes & Drums\, together with Heelsums Harmonie\, will provide the musical accompaniment for the commemoration.

DESCRIPTION:The third edition of the Firefighter Stair Climb will be held on Sunday\, September 15\, 2024. The stair climb at the WTC in Almere is in memory of the victims of the 2001 attack in New York\, where many innocent people and brave first responders lost their lives. This event also raises money for a good cause: Stichting Ambulance Wens Nederland. Pegasus Pipes & Drums will provide the musical accompaniment for the commemoration and the event.\n\nThe format of the WTC stair climb is well known. On Sunday\, September 15\, firefighters will take on the athletic challenge of climbing 30 floors and 600 steps in their firefighting gear and using breathing apparatus. Employees of the police\, ambulance services\, and Defense may also participate in their work uniforms.\nThis year\, the Firefighter Stair Climb will not have any competitive elements. DESCRIPTION:On September 13 and 14\, 2024\, the Arnhem Promenade Orchestra will perform a unique concert at the Eusebius Church in Arnhem. This concert commemorates 80 years since Operation Market Garden. The program includes memorable music pieces from the Market Garden period. This year\, special guests include the Pegasus Pipes and the Indonesian singers NonaNona\, who will offer a moment of reflection on the colonial war. Additionally\, Ukrainian singer Yana Popova will perform her own composition\, “Melody.” The guests will be accompanied by the Arnhem Promenade Orchestra.\n\nThe Arnhem Promenade Orchestra is a special project orchestra comprising sixty highly talented amateur musicians from Arnhem and regional harmony/fanfare associations for this occasion. DESCRIPTION:On Thursday the 1st of September\, Pegasus Pipes & Drums will open the exhibition ‘Out of Ammo’ of the Arnhem War Museum.\n\nThe exhibition in the Walburgiskerk provides an overview of daily life in wartime and of the fighting at the Rhine Bridge during the Battle of Arnhem. For this purpose\, situations have been simulated in various themes with original objects from that time\, such as vehicles\, weapons and equipment of German and English soldiers. The name of this exhibition refers to the legendary words Major Digby Tatham-Warter spoke out at the foot of the Rhine Bridge when\, due to a lack of ammunition\, he was forced to surrender to the Germans.\n\nUnique are the original parachutes that can be seen fully opened in the domes of the church. The exhibition is an impressive experience and a must for anyone interested in the battle of Arnhem.\n\n​The exhibition “Out of Ammo” is part of the Arnhem War Museum. A visit to the largest private war museum is definitely worth a visit.​
